I studied drawing under Taketoshi Ito and kaleidoscopes under Koji Yamami. Since my childhood, I’d had a fear of the mind and senses, life and death, etc., which later turned into a sort of interest in them. Consequently, I’ve been engaging in creative activities using my own methods ever since I was a student at a technical college of photography.

“Art is a mother.”

This is the motto of my work. Art, just like a mother, never betrays us and always gives us peace of mind.

Inspired by my experience during my pregnancy, in which I felt the deformation of my placenta in conjunction with my baby’s movement in my belly, I began to earnestly draw Monyamonya patterns, which signify life.

The Monyamonya patterns are variously changeable in terms of color, shape, thickness, hardness, and temperature, and the images are linked to our hearts, lives, to nature, and to the universe.
In addition, its aggregates can represent a bone, which is associated with death, thus they can also describe life and death.
